Additives incorporated into urea to reduce nitrogen losses after application to the soil PAB
Rech,Ioná; Polidoro,José Carlos; Pavinato,Paulo Sérgio.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to develop urea-based fertilizers with internal incorporation of urease inhibitors and other additives in the granule. The effects of the incorporation of NBPT, copper (Cu+2), boric acid (H3BO3), elemental sulphur (Sº), and a clay mineral from the zeolite group in powder urea - with ten different combinations of these additives - were evaluated as to N losses by volatilization and leaching. The losses in laboratory-developed formulations were compared with those of commercial fertilizers coated with the same additives (Super N, FH Nitro Mais, and FH Nitro Gold). The evaluations were made in greenhouse conditions, using a Ultisol accommodated in PVC columns. Nitrate and ammonium leaching was evaluated in the solution...

Ammonia volatilisation from urease inhibitor-treated urea applied to sugarcane trash blankets Scientia Agricola

Legal restrictions from burning sugarcane prior to harvest are causing a sharp increase in acreage which is harvested as green cane. The presence of a thick sugarcane trash mulch left after harvest makes it difficult to incorporate fertilisers in the soil. Since large losses of ammonia may occur when urea is surface applied to trash, it is important to find ways to improve urea-N use efficiency. The urease inhibitor NBPT slows down urea hydrolysis and thus may help decrease ammonia losses. Ammonia traps were set up in seven sugarcane fields covered with trash and fertilised with ammonium sulfate or ammonium nitrate, urea, and NBPT-treated urea. All N fertilisers were surface-applied at rates of 80 or 100 kg N ha-1. Very little N was lost when ammonium...

Ammonia volatilization from nitrogen fertilizers applied to sugarcane straw Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Otto,Rafael; Zavaschi,Eduardo; Souza Netto,Gerson José Marquesi de; Machado,Bianca de Almeida; Mira,Acácio Bezerra de.
ABSTRACT Maintenance of crop residues over soil surface under conservational systems limits incorporation of nitrogen fertilizers into the soil. Application of urea over crop residues enhance N-NH3 volatilization losses, justifying the usage of urease inhibitors or N sources less susceptible to volatilization under such conditions. This study aimed to evaluate volatilization losses from N sources applied over sugarcane straw. A field trial was carried out in a sugarcane field in Iracemapolis, Sao Paulo on a Typic Kandiudox in June 2014. We used a complete block experimental design, with seven treatments and four replications. Treatments included Control [CO], ammonium nitrate [AN], NS30TM (ammonium nitrate-75% and ammonium sulfate-25% fused mixture)...

Nitrogen dynamics in a Latosol cultivated with coffee AGRIAMBI
Souza,José A.; Rocha,Genelício C.; Gomes,Mateus de P.; Rezende,Carlos H. S..
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate nitrogen losses by NH3 volatilization and quantify the upward and downward NO3- flows in Latosol cultivated with arabica coffee. An experiment was set in 2010, in Viçosa-MG, Brazil (20º 41’ S and 42º 48’ W), in a randomized block design in a (3 x 2) + 1 factorial arrangement with three nitrogen doses (200, 400 and 600 kg ha-1), two forms of urea (conventional and NBPT urease inhibitor-treated) and one additional treatment without nitrogen fertilization, with four replicates. Semi-open type chambers were installed to quantify NH3 volatilization. To determine the concentration and flow of NO3- a soil solution extractor was installed in each plot at a 1-m depth together with three tensiometers at depths of...

Urease Inhibitor and Irrigation Management to Mitigate Ammonia Volatilization from Urea in No-Till Corn Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Viero,Fernando; Menegati,Guilherme Batista; Carniel,Eduardo; Silva,Paulo Regis Ferreira da; Bayer,Cimélio.
ABSTRACT High nitrogen (N) losses by ammonia (NH3) volatilization from urea can compromise nitrogen fertilization efficiency and corn yield. The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of irrigation management and the addition of the urease inhibitor N-(n-butyl)thiophosphoric triamide (NBPT) on NH3-N losses from urea and on corn yield. To this end, two experiments were carried out in the 2011/12 crop season on a sandy clay loam Acrisol in the Central Basin region of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil. Experiment I consisted of two different N sources (urea and urea plus the inhibitor) at a rate of 200 kg ha-1 N and two corn sowing times [viz., an early time (Sept. 3, 2011) and an intermediate time (Oct. 3, 2011)]. Experiment II considered a...

Volatilização de Amônia Proveniente de Ureia Compactada com Enxofre e Bentonita, em Ambiente Controlado Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
